Isn’t Juliet adorable? $100 Reward? If you refer a successful adopter (approved/completed adoption and
adjustment period) for Alexander and/or Juliet, you get a $100 reward
per cat. A $250 reward is offered for the successful referral for both cats together
in the same family. The reward will be given two months after the adoption has been successfully completed.
Why a reward? Alex and Juliet are still waiting because black kittens are notoriously hard to place. Based on a 2002 study in the Journal of Applied Animal Welfare Science -- adoption rates over 9 months in a California shelter showed that black
cats were 50% less likely to be adopted than tabby cats and 66% less likely than
white cats.
There's a stigma associated with black cats due to their association with witchcraft. They've been portrayed as everything from from "Magical
Mr. Mistoffelees" in the Broadway musical CATS to Edgar Allen Poe's "The Black Cat," vilified
by his master as "the hideous beast whose craft seduced me into
murder."
Rescue organizations are so fearful for the safety of black kittens and
cats during the Halloween season that some stop allowing
black cat adoptions during that time. This prevents people from using them as
party props then returning or abandoning them or, as urban legend has it,
sacrificing them in Satanic rituals.
My sweet Bombay-type cat children --
Alexander and Juliet -- are still
waiting for their forever home(s). With their incredibly loving, playful,
well-behaved personalities and adorable looks, they will only bring happiness
to the lucky people that adopt them. Please help by sharing this blog and reap the rewards for the kittens and for you! If you want to post or mail flyers to your contacts - email to adoptmekitten@aol.com.
